History has a tendency of repeating itself, I realised. I am learning about our history, the world’s history, and everything that comes along somehow ends up in a war. We, the most evolved species on earth (or that’s what they say) have the worst way of solving a conflict. We believe that by killing our own kind we will get justice, we will feel better and fulfilled. Obviously, that is the most selfish and unjustified thing a rational being can nurture. Even nowadays we face war. These bombs that have been released and that have taken away thousand of lives are no less of a war. All these sacrifices for what? Isn’t it time we woke up? Isn’t it time we accepted that all of us have our differences and that by trying to change someones mind, or seek for more “land” is nothing but medieval?
We are drug addicts, and the worst of them all is money. We realise that by allowing it to have power over our lives we are being enslaved by our own creation. Yet, what do we do? We feed this urge. We reach that point where if you want to evolve on a personal level, you have to be wealthy. The luxury of a good life, a better one, without any concerns, comes along with this drug addiction. For this, we fight, we kill, we sink in a no turning back chain of sins.
Humans seek for more: land, resources, knowledge, allies. Should we really step over dead bodies in order to achieve some kind of selfish goal? I would like to believe that in the thousand of years this world has been trough, we would have learned that everything we do here, on earth, is a journey, and a journey alone; by putting too much thought in material belongings we will lose our own soul; by starting wars, killing our brothers and sisters, we die a little bit more every day.
Wake up, be better, do better. When the sun sleeps and the mood rises surrounded by stars, stop for a second and look at the sky. Do you realise how small you are? How insignificant your worries are? How everything that saddens you is useless? How a war will never, ever, be the answer? Will you?
Inhale. Exhale. Let all the worries and negativity fly away. Now, are you ready to change the future? Are you ready to prove that the humankind can change and that ‘war’ will no longer be used in our vocabulary?
Note: This article was inspired from the film “Testament of youth”. I personally recommend it to those who find time.

“Why, I wondered, do people who at one time or another have all been young themselves, who ought therefore to know better, generalize so suavely and so mendaciously about the golden hours of youth? That period of life when every sorrow seems permanent and every setback insuperable.”
― Vera Brittain, Testament of Youth
